About

Our Story

Camp Y.E.S. began in 1985 as a ministry of New Testament Baptist Church of Hamilton, ON. Pastor Doug McClain, saved at an early age and raised in a strong Bible environment, had been introduced to Christian camping in his youth and had the privilege of attending for many years as a camper and then serving as a volunteer worker and eventually as a counselor as well. Knowing the impact of camp on his own spiritual growth and personal relationship with Jesus Christ, he dreamed of one day being able to provide a similar camp opportunity for other Christian youth. 2025 will mark the fortieth year of the realization of that dream. To God be the glory!

Importance Of Camp

CAMP = A Concentrated Atmosphere Majoring on Preaching

In one week at home, a young person may experience up to 10 hours of spiritual instruction, which is 9% of his/her waking hours. Those 10 hours are broken up by and accompanied by many competing hours of worldly entertainment and influences.

In one week at Camp YES, that same young person will experience 23 hours of spiritual instruction or 30% of his/her waking hours. These hours are in a spiritual environment where virtually all worldly distractions and influences are eliminated thus providing a unique opportunity for God to work in the heart.

Reviews and Testimonies

The ministry of Camp Y.E.S has had a lasting impact on my life. While at camp I surrendered my life to the Lord for the first time, and several times after that. Camp has also been very instrumental in the making of many other "small" decisions, which have helped me grow as a Christian.

Camp Y.E.S has had a huge impact on me! When I was ten years old, I surrendered my will completely to whatever God wants me to do in the future and I believe that He wants me in full time ministry.

My first time at Camp Y.E.S. was over 20 years ago, and I still remind myself of Bible truths and applications that I got at camp during those years. My life would be significantly different without the work God did in my life through camp. Things I learned at camp have been a huge help to my personal Christian walk, my marriage, my parenting, and my ministry. I am so thankful for all that the Lord has done in my life through camp, and I look forward to my sons receiving what God has for them also.

When I think of the impact that camp has had on the teens in our church, I think the most glaring way I’ve seen it is in the area of service. There always seems to be a renewed zeal in our teens to serve God here in our church after spending time at Camp Y.E.S. I think the emphasis of the camp about being "excited about salvation" helps our teens realize that they are saved for a purpose and that is to spend their lives in service to God and to glorify to Him with excitement.

Camp YES has played a huge part in my life and I was blessed to have parents that made it a non-negotiable, even though there were years I didn't want to go. At nine years old, I accepted Christ as my Saviour while at Camp YES. I also made decisions over the years regarding what friends I was allowing to influence me, what music I was listening to, and how I viewed authority in my life. I don't know if I would be serving the Lord in the same capacity as I am now if it were not for Camp YES.

Camp YES has made a huge impact on my life. I have been going there since 2018 and every year I have been blessed with new principles that I could apply to my life. This past year I made a huge decision - I have been praying about it since 2018. This year at camp, on August 16th, I surrendered my life to full time missions and if God is to change it in the future I would follow his path. August has always been my favourite month since I started going to camp, and I plan on enjoying the camp experience for as long as I can.

Camp Y.E.S. has been very helpful to my spiritual growth. I felt very close to God during camp, and that caused me to desire to grow closer to Him. After one of the times I went to camp, I chose to read the Bible all the way through, which was huge. I found my attitude toward spiritual growth and serving God became more enthusiastic and joyful as I followed through with that decision. God worked in my heart at camp to make my faith my own.
